Re: How To fix the FRAMERATE DROP?

just wanted to chime in, not sure if this will help or not. I haven't really kept an eye on my CPU or GPU usage until this weekend as I haven't had any issues from day 1 (one of the lucky ones I guess). My specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2 GHz
SAPPHIRE 100283L Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V

I get a very consistent 75-85 FPS running 8x AA, with shadows playing on 1600 x 900 res. The thing that is different for me vs what some of you guys/girls have posted is that my CPU and GPU are pegged at 100% nearly the entire time while in game (drops to barely anything in between map changes and I'm always one of the first to enter the next round)...once in a while one or the other might drop to 95-98%. I do have good airflow so it never gets too hot (well within normal operating ranges anyway) and I often clean it out from dust build up.

On a side note, I dropped it to 4x AA and more FPS dropped to the 65-75 range, though still very consistent and my GPU/CPU usage was still at the 100% mark.....that was interesting to say the least. Anyway, like I said, not sure if this helps anyone but I just find it odd that I don't have any issues but my usage is maxed out but others do have issues while only using a portion of thier computing power. Best of luck to all who have problems, hope it gets worked out for you.....or just wait until BF3 and drop this game (tis my plan)

Re: Confirmed the mod tools will come out in May 2011 ?

Wouldn't it be nice if the gave more information. For instance, here is a clip from the World of Tanks developers about some recent increased lag some had experienced playing the game (please note that I am not a fan of this game, wish it would go die a horrible death as it has taken too many of my fellow clan members away from Blops so I'm left alone playing by myself lol):

If you experience heavy lag, we recommend that you find your “trace route” to our game server. In Windows, start a Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd), then type “tracert 174.34.231.132”. This should also work for any third-party tracking application. Send the results to our Support Services by opening a support ticket. We are grateful for your cooperation and patience in helping us resolve these issues.

Release 6.4 and Recent Lags on the US Server

The recent release of the version 0.6.4 update has led to an increase in the amount of traffic which affected our previously stable network connections. The lag issue on the US server is local, however it does affect a large part of the Eastern United States (and all related traffic that goes through it). The servers in our data center are working fine and their capacity is sufficient for the time being.

The first reports of severe lag were received on May 19th, and we started investigating the issue both in our data center in North Carolina and along the packet routes to it, paying special attention to those going through the CaroNet Hosting network. As a result of the analysis, CaroNet made some changes to outbound traffic parameters on May 20th to exclude routes via Level3 (another service provider). On our end, we have reconfigured the server equipment several times so as to optimize the traffic structure and flow, and to minimize the load on local ISPs, reducing packet loss and ensuring as smooth gameplay as possible. The improvement is still partial pending routing issues to be sorted out by the backbone provider at the earliest possible date.

We apologize for the recent lag issues and any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding and support.

If they sell like 50,000, then the devs need to sit on and egg and rotate (old 80's line for those youngins) until they get it in their head that the game is broke for most people.

Personally, I'm happy with the game but still not sure if I'm buying the DLC. Depends on what the rest of my friends are doing. I can drop $15 for it, no problem, but if I'm playing by myself then its not really worth it.

It will be interesting, I've been wanting a survey of some sort sent via steam to see if the forum represents the vocal minority, or a larger fan base....this will certainly shed some light on it. If 300,000 people buy the DLC, then the forum is a vocal minority, if maybe 50,000 buy it, then the game issues are more widely spread than I thought. If nothing else, this will be fun to watch.

Go to the Crysis forums, tons of threads about poor performance, not being able to start the game, cheaters etc

Go to the homefront forums, same thing, cheaters on day 1, can't get the game to play, OP guns

People just like to complain, and usually those few people with problems are the loudest as the ones without problems are playing the game. I guess you can hope for a demo and go from that but stay away from forums as they will lead you to believe the game(s) are horrible.

Its full of people crying about poor performance, snipers, cheaters and guns doing too much damage.

Now look at the COD BO forums, people crying about performance, snipers (or lack thereof), cheaters and OP guns.

When the Crysis 2 demo came out, tons of threads about performance and cheaters (didn't see much about OP guns yet)

What does all of that have in common?

A) people just like to complain
B) people need to fix their computers (whether that is upgrade components or clean it out)
C) cheaters will always be around, VAC/PB/God/whatever
