Both should cost additional points from the "Pick.. Class" system and there should be penalties. For example, the bullets for extra damage should cost a proportional amount more (a fair bit) and the armour, as well as some additional cost, should be cumbersome and reduce movement and/or dexterity.

I think you missed my point, you're not the first.

I'm not advocating a "new" way of doing TDM.

I'm not advocating presenting TDM exclusively based on "kills minus deaths" or "spread" as some call it.

I'm advocating having the standings represent what TDM is already based on.

In other words order the players by the value that closest determines or contributes to a match outcome of win (or lose).

SPM as the standings have been done in the last 2 games, and KILLS as were used before that, do not include deaths in any part of their build up (beyond the fact that a death removes you from play briefly and stops a streak), yet each death in TDM is directly effecting the match by as much as a kill, only in the opposite direction.

Showing kills and deaths (or even the "kills minus deaths" statistic) is as you have stated superfluous, I see it anyway.

I'm simply advocating the standings order represent who brought the most effect the match result. In every match type, on any day, the standings should always represent the purpose of the match type and what achieves the win.

[To flip things around, the way the standings are represented today, the team that wins in TDM should simply be the team that has the player with the highest SPM, or most kills. At least then it would be honest, in that regard.]

Oh how I loath these kind of threads (and it is not because the thread is bad or irrelevant, quite the opposite, it's just that my responses drain me).

I'm going with Chestymorgue and the excellent post (4 paragraphs long) by t.h.flame here.

This glitch thing which became a fad, and then a craze and then a "legitimate illegitimate" way of playing in CoD has not only effected CoD combat in general (for the absolute worse in my opinion, and has made the game a "bit silly"), it has also disabled sniping...

Sniping as a skill, sniping as a class, sniping as an advantage, sniping as a weakness, sniping as a possiblity.

I actually feel that removing sniper rifles from the game entirely would have caused a slightly different level of reaction, a fundemental one in fact, that would provoke the notion of "something wrong", "something missing" or "something incomplete" and that would not stand. Much easier then, to trade sniping for the "fast 'n' furious but ridiculous" glitch-thing and then chop the maps into mini-portions as space and distance are no longer necessitated.

All of this nonsense "non-combat" should be placed in a variety of party modes to please all, perhaps in competitive modes too BUT there should always be a whole bunch of game modes promoting combat with all these weapons used for the scenarios and advantages that the real world reflects. I would love to be playing a game and come up against a sniper-covered road or square knowing I'm at a disadvantage, stuck even, perhaps trapped in cover. This is a challenge I want, this is well-played to the sniper, this is where teamwork and combat starts to evolve.

Running around with a insta-kill auto-aim ultra-fast downsight thing pushes CoD towards Pacman on speed.

Taking TDM COD as has been for the last 6 games, a streak reward could allow a team to spawn in an area that is unavailable to the enemy. There could be many of these and the enemy team would not be informed of when this occurs or where this occurs.

If done poorly, this idea would cause more problems, for sure. However, if done correctly it would not only change the dimensions of streak rewards and teamwork, but also the dynamics of patrolling the maps, map/match variety and of course begin to allude towards an "endless" and changing environment.

It also saves pushing the button to mute all, several times in a pre-match lobby or even in game, as new players arrive. This is a major distraction and can ruin a streak or such.

When I bought the PS3 first time around, it was before I bought any games at all, I actually sat with it as a Blu-ray player for a while before buying any games. It was the same (DVD player) for PS2.

I'll buy PS4 this year, irrespective of Ghosts. If the game has a great quality, I mean, if the game is excellent and a true classic, all gamers adjust to suit. This is where I think developers should be looking. Authenticity should never be substituted for dillution in my opinion as that inherently decreases the quality - it's almost an admission of lower standard, again, in my opinion.

May the great games of PS4 rise!
