COD is ripe to be replaced, and I don't think it would have to be more sophisticated to do so.

@ CrapDuster, I believe you have reason to believe the way you do. I don't have any experience with pro gaming. It sounds like you were cheated out of something important at some point. I have a friend that was involved in pro gaming, and his clan came in second to a group that was later caught cheating, according to him. I have seen popular youtube channel jockeys that I don't believe are legit... however, if I critique my own video, I can find reason to be suspicious. Sometimes it's just luck and coincidence, especially for me:) Videos I make woth display are far and few between:) Because the sun and planets have to come into alighment with my ping that game, etc. I'm just curious, what percentage of players do you believe are cheating? In the past I have thought many players were cheating, but as I have improved that number has gone down drastically. I think most "experienced" players know a cheat when they encounter it. Many just get frustrated and call cheat however, because it's natural for them to assume they can't be beat that badly unless the other player is cheating. I was/am fortunate to be associated with some top notch players. I get to play with them and against them and that helps me get a feel for what is legit. I also learn from them, their technique, routes, strategies, and it all works to make me better, and that means comparatively better... so that players that used to dominate me don't do so any more. Scuse me for rambling... we have accepted challenges from other clans, just to find they all hacked:) We have also done so and called out that one of them was hacking, shortley after to be confirmend with a ban. Sometimes ignorance of the game and the options, perks, etc leads folks to claim hack when it was not. I have done that myself.

I'd like to see some really good examples of pro players and clans that hack. I'd like to know what they use and how. If just playing for fun is a reason to hack, then playing pro must make it tempting as well... but I'd like to see it, know it, cause these days, I'm not seeing that many hackers, especially compared to recent past, and also times in MW2 when it got ridiculous.

The cheating seems to come in waves... or it seems to me to do that.

I usually play with folks 3,000 miles away, and the lag can be very frustrating, even if I am host... but I see the problem. When I group with buds in the same neighborhood it's all much better. It didn't occur to me why until just now. If you play with folks in the UK, then no one should suffer much because the pings are all pretty good... I suppose. For most folks in the US though, I think being host is a curse. Correct me if I am wrong.

There are a number of cheating clans. Usually those types stick together, but not always. There are individuals in clans who cheat and keep it a secret from their clan members... I know, we had one. Just because a clan claims to be cheat free doesn't mean they are, it just means they intend to be, and any self respecting clan won't keep a player with bans on record on the team. However, most of the cheaters are loners. I really believe there are fewer cheaters than folks claim though. For instance we just had another 11 up and won all of them just now, and in the majority of the games someone was calling hacker. We only saw one hacker in those 11 games, and he was on our side, and later on the other side, because we were only 5 at the moment, but we confirmed "their" suspicions and I think we all reported him.

In regards to competition, this is the preferred anti-cheat system, UAC3 http://cod4.co.za/?p=315 ...and it's not as simple as CrapDuster indicated. That link tells about it and how it works. I hear that it's not perfect, but that is only a rumor, I can't verify it, and for sure they are WAAAAAY more on top of it, improving it and doing the research to make sure they are worthy, than anything VAC is doing. VAC SUX, Noooo doubt.

We got in one VAC CHAOS lobby. Actually I didn't go into the game. I could she things weren't right so I didn't even select a class. The "game" put us in the BS and then gave me a ____ing loss:) We saw 1 blatant aimbotter, and one that was using the ainbot but not letting it aim for him, wall hacks I guess you'd say, and a couple more suspicious characters. I moved it to the center regarding the "speed" of the cursor and it resolved. It was a different issue though. But from what I have seen now, it seems to be Logitech and RAT mice, and especially RAT issues. I use a Logitech gaming mouse for doing 3D CAD on Win 7/64 and for a while my software would NOT keep it's settings. But it seems to have settled out and is steady now.
