Oddly, this guide suggests adding the PS3 to a DMZ *AND* setting up port-forwarding.

This is exactly right, and it exposes a major bug/flaw in most home-grade routers. Specifically, in a home-implementation a DMZ is not a DMZ. In the home implementation, the DMZ host is only outside of the SPI firewall; it does NOT have all ports open - as would be the case in a commercial DMZ implementation. All DMZs are not equal. The vendors are just protecting users from themselves.

From the other end of the problem, if you have only configured port-forwarding, but your machine is not in a DMZ I.E. still behind the router firewall, you'll still suffer very bad lag, but this time from the SPI firewall tracking the vector of each external packet.

I suffered terribly with lag with my PS3 only being in a DMZ - to the point I *never* saw my bullets hitting an enemy while watching their kill-cam view. In their kill-cam I look like, I'm just sitting there like a monkey appearing not to even fire - whereas from my in-game perspective, I emptied a whole mag and they still just killed me by magic!

After adding the PS3 to both the DMZ and configuring static port-forwarding as per the above link, I see my bullets raining down on the enemy for the first time while watching their kill-cam - the game is now fair and working for the first time!

This works, this is *the* fix, well done Treyarch, I can finally play your game as you intended and not sit there like a moron!

As it is so counterintuitive to implement a DMZ host and port-forwarding, I suspect the barrage of criticism Treyarch receive is likely due to the fact 95% of home-router vendors are being over-careful, and more effort needs to be done to inform all users - such as a message-of-the-day actually in game, and some kind of test-server to enable PS3 users to actually measure their lag stats/validate the configuration. Seeing your own bullets hitting the enemy for the first time is a very deterministic test, it's not an absolute measurement, which would be more useful.

I can only surmise that the port PnP stuff isn't implemented in the PlayStation and/or BO2 correctly as that *should* open all the ports the game requires when the PS3 is in the DMZ. Maybe that's the true root-cause.

I can now snap-shoot close range with SMGs for the first time since the game was released and actually win the 'draw' rather than die 100% of the time. This makes the game very deterministic and consistent from one match to the next.

Also, as an English resident, I'm getting added to USA matches for the first time in 3000+ games. This proves this change is radical.

Router (Linksys) Cisco E4200, firmware 1.0.05.

I can also regress this change by turning off static port-forwarding rules, which proves it's a true fix and not a fluke coincidence.

You need to call Support and report the negaive XP to them so it can be looked into.

You really thought you were going to get away with that? If you looked it up you would know people have been banned for using that symbol since BO came out (2011).

same here its a video u watch or if someone on your team has host whos using it itwill affect u and come across like your using the hack even though u have no idea how its happening and yess u can be ban i got 2 accounts i cant play on because of that garbage and i never received any message about the ban i had to call treyarch is slack n on the notifications

yess people r banned i talk to someone from activision today and both of my accounts r banned because of the xp and mortar hack its not a glitch its an encrypted code in that dumb a** video a glitch would be when people go " beyond 15th prestige" activision cant tell u much because treyarch hasnt really said much about it and i know im banned because they pulled up both accounts with me on the phone and i never received any message wich treyarch is also known for according to activision

The Finnish Air Force abandoned that ensignia in 1945 due to it's association with Nazis.

Perhaps you should have done the same, or at least known why it wasn't the Air Force's emblem any longer before making it an emblem.

i was on hold for over an hour to be told they dont discuss bans the reason for bans or anything related to bans except to say you are banned and for how long.

you can read the rules i posted for yourself under security and code enforcement.

For me, you're post is confusing, and I'm questioning the authenticity of the information your providing.

For one, as someone who has never recieved any previous offences or any offence notifications from Activision, I never "used" the xp glitch and nor did I know that such a glitch even existed until I found myself in a hacked TDM lobby where I presume people were "using" the glitch. I have no idea how the glitch works, and I don't really care.

This info that you're putting out is basically telling me that I'm banned for 5000 days because this is my 3rd offence, when that couldn't be further from the truth. I've been locked out for over 72 hours now. So, thanks for the info, bud. Still doesn't answer anything for me.

That's why I'll find out for myself tomorrow when I call and speak with a representative. I'll be sure to share with the class.

Thousands of permenant bans have taken place due to people using the xp glitch.

Activisions policy is as such

ANY PLAYER ORGANIZING OR INVOLVED IN LOBBY WITH THE EXPRESS INTENT OF GAINING XP POINTS OR UNLOCKING WEAPONS ETC

1ST OFFENSE-PUNISHMENT 48 HOUR BAN RESET OF STATS.

2ND OFFENSE 72 HOUR BAN STATS RESET

3RD OFFENSE 5000 DAY BAN RESET STATS

Its on their own website, but the thousands of us that used the xp lobby are permenantly banned according to activisions customer support. I just got off phone with them.....

I was recently banned for something I have no idea why.
I would like the security team or the devolpers to tell me exactly why i was banned?
I play 100 % legit, I never hacked I never entered into hacked lobbies. I just dont understand why I have been banned.
